HUE Starts the 2020 Spring Semester
Due to the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, Haikou University of Economics put off 2020 spring semester for two months. As the situation turned better, according to the notice of the Chinese Ministry of Education and Department of Education of Hainan Province, the beginning date of the new semester was finally confirmed. From 9th to 20th May, students returned to the university in succession. Face to face classes resumed from 25th May and on-line classes were ended.
Senior students who were the first batch of students coming back to the campus returned to HUE on 9th May. They finished the graduate thesis defense and left the university before 20th. From 18th to 20th, students in their first, second and third year returned to the campus successively.
More than 150 student volunteers, led by their teachers, have been involved in the work of epidemic prevention and control. They were distributed in different venues, such as the airport, the train station, the gate of HUE, and the entrances of canteens, to offer guidance and help. Buses were arranged to pick up students from the airports and the train station to reduce the risk of infection by taking public transportation. Students were requested to show their healthy code before they entered the campus. After having their body temperature checked and luggage sterilized, students were allowed to go to the dormitory.
Now taking prevention measures becomes daily routine of everybody. When students and teachers go to the cafeterias and canteens, they need to wash their hands, wear masks and sit with a 1.5m quarantine distance. The classes will be dismissed on different time to avoid gathering and the seats in the classroom will be arranged with enough space.
Many more prevention measures are going to be taken to keep a healthy and safe environment in the campus.
